This heavy chunk of rock is tinted darkly with a rusty red color, an indication that there are some amounts of metallic iron within the rock. The red color rubs off of the rock after it is rubbed with some force, and is difficult to get off of the skin. Miners can take this lump of ore, and skillfully extract whatever iron is in it for use.
